The difference between rising stem gate valve and non-rising stem gate valve

The difference on the stem

The rising stem gate valve is a lift type, while the non-rising stem gate valve is not a lift type.

The difference in transmission mode

Rising stem gate valve is a handwheel that drives the nut to rotate in place, and the valve stem is linearly raised and lowered to complete the switch; the non-rising stem gate valve is a handwheel that drives the valve stem to rotate, and there are threads in the gate to move up and down to complete the switch.

The difference in practicality

The thread of the stem of the non-rising stem gate valve cannot be lubricated, and it is directly in contact with the medium, and it is easy to be corroded and cause damage. Unlike the rising stem gate valve, its structure is helpful to the lubrication of the stem, so the rising stem gate valve is more practical and application is more extensive.

The difference between screw

The rising-stem gate valve can see the screw, but the non-rising stem gate valve can’t see the screw.

The difference in installation space

Rising stem gate valve requires a larger installation space because the valve stem is a lifting type; the non-rising stem gate valve is a non-lifting type and only rotates, so there is little requirement for installation space.
